OpenAI just dropped their biggest update yet: ChatGPT Agent. This isn't just another chatbot upgrade - it's a complete paradigm shift. We're talking about an AI that books your travel, builds presentations, writes code, sends emails, and operates independently while you grab coffee.

ChatGPT Agent runs on its own virtual computer, using browsers, terminals, and APIs across Gmail, Google Drive, GitHub, and more. It thinks in steps (research → act → refine → notify) and alerts you when tasks are complete. Early benchmarks show impressive performance across complex real-world tasks.

The ChatGPT Agent is available to Plus, Pro, Team, and Enterprise subscribers. For South African users, that's approximately R400 per month for Plus (around $20), excluding VAT. So you're getting access to the future of work automation for less than your monthly coffee budget! ☕

Cost can be a deterrent to some people when it comes to AI tools. However, imagine telling ChatGPT to "Research your competitors, book a client meeting for next week, and prepare a presentation deck with our latest product updates", then walking away and finding it all done perfectly for the price of 3 pizzas (or maybe 2 in Cape Town). That's the power we're talking about!

Amazon Web Services just launched Kiro, and it's coming for Cursor's throne. But here's the twist - instead of just helping you write code, Kiro forces you to think first. It turns vague prompts into detailed specifications, requirements, and technical designs before generating a single line of code.

What makes Kiro different, you might ask? Where Cursor excels at "vibe coding," Kiro introduces spec-driven development. It automatically generates user stories, creates technical architecture documents, designs data flow diagrams, and sequences implementation tasks. Plus, it includes "hooks" - automated background agents that run tests, update documentation, and catch security issues as you code.

Not only does Kiro promise to write better code, but it’s also completely free during preview. Post-preview pricing ranges from Free ($0/month) to Pro+ ($39/month). Compare that to Cursor Pro at $20/month.

We like Kiro because it is built on familiar foundations. As it is a VS Code fork, it feels familiar, and it also means that you keep all your settings and plugins. Moreover, it supports Windows, macOS, and Linux with MCP integration for connecting external tools.

Google isn't just adding AI to search - they're completely reimagining what search means. The rollout of AI Mode with Deep Search represents their most ambitious move yet, away from traditional search toward an AI-first experience.

Deep Search changes everything: Instead of showing you 10 blue links, Deep Search conducts hundreds of searches, analyses disparate information, and creates comprehensive, fully-cited reports in minutes. It's like having a research team that never sleeps.

What's available now: Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers get early access to Gemini 2.5 Pro in AI Mode, plus Deep Search capabilities. Google is also launching AI-powered calling to local businesses where the AI literally phones businesses to check pricing and availability for you.

So what does this mean? For local businesses, this means Google's AI might soon be calling to check your store hours and pricing. For users, it means getting answers without the tedious process of visiting multiple websites.
